Meet Your Speech Pathologist

Afiyah Dunbar, MA, CCC-SLP

I view myself as a go-getter, constantly pushing to achieve my goals and complete my to-do lists (they’re never-ending). Therefore, I can relate to adults on a rehab journey who are working hard to retain or regain some of their independence. I am here to support your efforts in maintaining meaningful connections with loved ones, and finding a sense of purpose in your day to day affairs. As a clinician, you can count on me to celebrate your treatment successes, foster a supportive atmosphere for your recovery, and adjust the plan as necessary.

When I'm not working as a speech pathologist, I love taking family walks in the beautiful green spaces of Fort Bend and the greater Houston metro. I often find myself in the kitchen, baking from scratch with my daughters to accommodate our family’s unique dietary needs. Each day begins with a hot cup of strong black tea—don’t forget the cream and sugar!

Afiyah is a board certified speech pathologist, licensed to practice in the states of TX and FL. She carries 17 years of clinical expertise in managing acquired disorders of communication and swallowing in adults across the lifespan.
